  복잡하게 얽힌 전등들의 불빛과 130피트의 높이의 회전식 정비탑(RSS)은 39A 발사대에 위치한 아틀란티스 호의 밤 야경을 더욱 멋지게 비추어 준다. 화요일의 셔틀 발사 전 까지, 회전식 정비탑은 스페이스 셔틀 오비터(Orbiter)와 탑재 물품에 대한 접근을 용이하게 해준다. 이번 임무인 STS-122 를 위해 아틀란티스 호에는 국제 우주 정거장인 ISS 에 유럽 우주 기관(ESA)의 콜럼버스 과학 실험실이 탑재되었다. 임무 중에는 콜럼버스 실험실을 ISS 에 부착하기 위해서 3번의 우주유영이 예정되어 있으며 아틀란티스는 오늘 ISS 와 도킹하도록 예정되어 있다.

For this mission, STS-122, to the International Space Station, Atlantis' payload is the European Space Agency's Columbus science laboratory. During the mission, three space walks are planned to attach the Columbus lab. Atlantis is expected to dock with the space station today.
